History and charm await you at "The Blessed House" Bed & Breakfast. Over 170 years ago preparations for your visit began as hand-hewn cypress logs were notched into place. Even now, we anticipate your arrival to this most unique three-story Creole raised cottage listed on the National Register of Historic Places, located in the heart of the National Landmark District, and winner of the Architecture Restoration Award.
Built on the land that was granted to Anthanese Demeziere, Commandant of Fort St. John Baptiste and son-in-law of St. Denis, founder of Natchitches, this unique original structure (circa 1836) which features exposed cypress logs/beams, cypress siding and sills, heart pine flooring, 12 foot celings, square-head nails, and doweled-pegged studs was raised during restoration and an entire brick first floor, commonly known as an above ground cellar, built underneath.
Be blessed as you enjoy Southern hospitality and experience "The Blessed House" as did the cast of Steel Magnolias when during the filming of the movie in the late 1980's the house served as their dressing room.
